He asks the librarian, Urag gro-Shub, if he can recommend anything more suitable for him, but is blatantly dismissed. There are no books he can learn from, however, as the only remotely comprehensible one is a children's book. He then proceeds to ask to be taken to the Arcanaeum to examin texts and find something suitable he can learn from.
If all requirements have been fulfilled, the Dragonborn can ask Rumarin whether he wants to discuss something while they're relaxing, he will inquire whether their opinion on Olivia Meronin's unorthodox method of studying and if it may apply to him. It didn't seem to be related to finishing jobs at the College but maybe some other quest.A Spell for Rumarin is a quest added by the mod Interesting NPCs. I went away, did a couple of other quests and stuff for several hours, came back and was able to start the Containment quest. I would definitely try loading up any older saves (older than the ones you already tried) you have before pulling the trigger, if you do wish to have a 100% file on your main guy (you do keep some of those, right?).Īs someone else pointed out, it's one of the more "common" questline breaking bugs in the game next to the Dampened Spirits bug for the Thieves Guild, but I don't know if there's anything that 100% triggers that to happen, e.g., for the Thieves Guild, breaking into the meadery prior to starting the Dampened Spirits quest could cause it to "unhinge" the chain of events, but for that I'm kind of unsure and the Wiki is sparse on those details besides the active side objectives for the guild. Yeah, if nothing else, you might just have to forget about it and start a quick new character to plow through that questline on Novice difficulty.
